MARC PETILLON
Marc Pétillon, guitarist for Distance of Thought, is a Dutch-American musician who has become a defining presence in Houston’s music scene through his powerful, expressive playing style. Influenced by iconic bands such as Night Ranger, Ozzy Osbourne, Dokken, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, he fuses the melodic finesse of classic hard rock with the precision and intensity of modern metal. A defining hallmark of his sound is his passion for harmony guitar work—crafting rich, layered dual-lead passages that add depth, energy, and a timeless character to his music. His playing is marked by soaring, memorable solos, tight rhythmic control, and a seamless balance between melody and aggression.
Over the years, he has been a member of bands featuring acclaimed vocalists such as James Rivera (Helstar) in Metal Asylum, Robert Lowe (Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass) in Disciple of Doom, and Ronny Munroe(Metal Church) in Beyond the Wrath. In addition to his original work, Marc continues to engage audiences with high-energy performances in Judas Priest tribute band Judas X, cover band Winter’s End, and various other projects. His distinctive guitar work—defined by dynamic phrasing, harmonic richness, and a commanding modern edge—is featured on Distance of Thought’s album Edge of Forever, underscoring both his versatility and lasting impact as a modern metal guitarist.
